Some Ferguson residents have received body cameras to videotape police.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports We Copwatch of California raised more than $6,000 to purchase 110 devices. The group distributed the cameras and trained residents on how to use them over the weekend.
Ferguson's police chief says residents are entitled to wear and use the small cameras. He says the department's officers have been told not to interfere with that right. He also noted many people already have been recording police on their phones.
Two companies last month donated 50 body cameras to the Ferguson Police Department.
Last week, St. Louis County police began issuing cameras to its officers, with the goal of equipping all of its patrol officers as soon as possible.
