How can Columbia stop high school students from dropping out?

Credit KBIA

This is the very first episode of CoMo Explained, a new podcast from the KBIA newsroom that breaks down the big news of the day and explains how Columbia works.

In this episode we look at the achievement gap: why do some high school students succeed and others drop out?  Columbia's dropout rate is just a little higher than the statewide average, but if you look at Douglass High School, more than 1 out of every 3 students won't make it to graduation day.

Hit the listen button above or download the podcast here.  Let us know in the comments what you think--this is a brand new podcast and we're interested!  Seriously!

Next week we take a look at the controversy around C-2 Zoning.  Have no idea what that is?  Good!  We'll break it down for you.  Subscribe this iTunes link, or use an RSS reader.

Next week you can just search for us on iTunes, we promise!  Let us know what you think by tweeting us @KBIA
