Missouri's new Blue Alert System will activate on Monday, making it the 28th state with such a program.
The system notifies the public of injured, killed or missing officers as well as imminent threats against officers, and uses the same technology as Amber and Silver alerts. A Blue Alert would be broadcast through the Emergency Alert System, Department of Transportation message boards and text messages.
