Missouri GOP leaders stand behind Limbaugh Hall of Fame induction

Mar 6, 2012

Missouri state Senate leadership and other Republican legislators did not disagree with the House Speaker's choice to honor Rush Limbaugh.

The Speaker of the Missouri House, Steve Tilley, R-Perryville, confirmed that he plans to induct the conservative talk show host into the Hall of Famous Missourians.

Senate President Pro Tem Rob Mayer echoed Tilley's comments, saying Limbaugh has made a name for himself and deserves to be recognized.

"I know he's done well for himself, he's played a big part in the political landscape all across the nation and had a pretty profound impact on our nation," Mayer said.

Limbaugh recently gained national attention after calling a law student a 'slut' for speaking in favor of the birth control mandate.

A Democrat from St. Louis, Jamilah Nasheed, condemned the decision to honor Limbaugh, calling it a "slap in the face" to women across the state.
