The Moberly Area Community College Board of Trustees is back to six members following the appointment of its newest member during its meeting Monday.

Lori Turk was chosen by the board to fill in the vacant seat of Rodney Loesch, who resigned his seat after leaving the Moberly area.

Turk was formerly the owner and operator of Moberly Radiology and Imaging. She has also served as president of the Rotary Club, Moberly Public School Foundation, Safe Passage, and is a Deacon at Coates Street Presbyterian Church.

MACC President Dr. Jeff Lashley said Turk's leadership was a factor in her appointment.

"She's been a very active person in our community. She served on numerous boards and typically in a leadership capacity. She's often served as president of those boards. She's just an intelligent, even-handed person who I think can bring great insights to the board and will be a great addition to the board," Lashley said.

Turk said she's honored for her appointment and looks forward to being an advocate for education.

"I've always been an advocate for education and the opportunity it affords not only to our children as they graduate from high school, but also adults as they look for other opportunities and careers," said Turk.

Turk also said she looks forward to the challenges of being a board member.
