NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell looks further into possible relocation of three NFL teams

Roger Goodell says the existing stadiums in St. Louis, San Diego and Oakland are "inadequate and unsatisfactory," and the proposals the Rams, Chargers and Raiders received to remain in their current cities lacked certainty.

The Los Angeles Times first reported Goodell's comments. A special owners meeting is scheduled next week, and relocation by one or two of these teams to Los Angeles will be discussed, quite possibly voted on.

All three franchises applied for relocation last week.

The Rams contend owner Stan Kroenke's Inglewood stadium is superior to the proposal from the Chargers and the Raiders. The team also slammed efforts to build a St. Louis stadium, stating that the plan would lead to financial ruin.

Needless to say, Gov. Jay Nixon is skeptical of that plan.

"When you talk about financial ruin, you generally don't think about NFL owners," said Nixon. "They seem to have risen to a position to take that away as a life risk."

Even if Kroenke's relocation bid is rejected,  he's under not obligation to sign onto the Riverfront stadium plan.
