Rain Complicates Missouri Hay Harvest

Recent flooding in Missouri is impacting more than river levels and roads. Rain is also affecting the agricultural economy. Hay farmers are experiencing unfavorable conditions this season and the result is a drop in supply. Russel Martin farms hay in Ashland and says he’s disappointed with the season.

"You can't mow hay in wet weather. You can't get it dried out or anything like that."

Hay prices are expected to rise in the next few weeks, which will bring up costs for those using it to feed dairy cows, beef cattle, goats, sheep and horses.
