Severe weather has left tens of thousands without power, temporarily trapped two people in a cave near Columbia and closed some highways.

Crews were making repairs after Wednesday's storm knocked out power to nearly 185,000 Ameren customers in Missouri and Illinois, largely near St. Louis. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that about 58,000 in the St. Louis area were still without power Thursday morning.

KYTV reported that elsewhere Empire was reporting more than 1,100 without power in the Buffalo area. Southwest Electric Coop reports about 625 members without power in Benton, Camden and Dallas counties.

At Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, crews rescued two people from a cave, where they became trapped by rising water.

Missouri transportation officials also reported road closures in Saline, Lafayette, Dallas, Laclede and Johnson counties.
