The Mizzou Online Military Tuition Award will offer a ten percent reduction in base tuition for online degrees and certificates for all service members and their dependents. This new benefit is effective immediately and will apply toward 150 hours of undergraduate credit and/or 75 hours of graduate credits toward a distance degree or certification program through Mizzou Online.

MU Chancellor R. B. Loftin said the tuition award is needed to help make higher education more accessible for members of the military and their families.

“The ability of a serviceman to come here was very limited and therefore online was the key. The other part of it was how you now reduce the costs so that they can be more likely to take advantage of this opportunity,” Loftin said.

Lieutenant Colonel Larry D. Crowder said MU has validated the importance of military personnel and veterans.

“We owe it to those people to ensure that they’re successful in what they do. This program will be a big part of the Missouri National Guard being able to ensure that the young men and women that are in our ranks have the privilege and ability to attend a fine university,” Crowder said.

To qualify for the award, a person must be an active-duty service member, a veteran with honorable discharge, or a National Guard or reservist. The person must also be accepted to MU as an undergraduate or graduate student and maintain a 2.0 GPA.
