Rich Clarkson

Rich Clarkson is one of the founding fathers of modern sports photojournalism. Born in 1932, Clarkson's early photos of Wilt Chamberlain playing basketball at the University of Kansas in the 1950s were published in a new magazine called Sports Illustrated.

That launched a career that included photographing 60 NCAA men's basketball championships, nine Olympics and many, many other sports events.

On this special edition of Global Journalist, Clarkson talks about how photojournalism has changed over the decades and the stories behind some of the most memorable sports photos of our time.

In 2016, University of Missouri Athletics experienced a wide range of successes and failures. The year also featured instability, as five different people (Mack Rhoades, Wren Baker, Hank Foley, Sarah Reesman and Jim Sterk) served as the university’s athletic director.

Following the departure of long-time football head coach in 2015, and the football team’s role in the November 2015 protests on the MU campus, Missouri Tiger fans have not appeared to support the football program as much as years past.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that members of The Antlers were ejected from Mizzou Arena on Monday night early in the second half of Missouri's 78-64 win over IUPUI.

Winning the Big 12 tournament was not quite enough to earn a Number One NCAA tournament seed for Missouri.

Missouri’s men’s basketball game against Kansas on Saturday was the 267th time the teams have played.  But it could be one of the last times the long time rivals will compete since MU is moving to the Southeastern Conference next year.  Opposing petitions have sprung up in Kansas and Missouri to either save or end the Border Showdown.
