Republicans seeking director, from inside or outside Missouri

The chairman of the Missouri Republican Party says he's conducting a nationwide search for a new executive director.

Republican chairman Ed Martin said Wednesday that he's already received resumes from people in Virginia and New Mexico and is looking for whoever is best suited to serve as party CEO — even if that person is from outside Missouri.

New Mo. GOP chair plans more aggressive approach

Ed Martin says Missouri GOP needs to do a better job at fundraising.

The new chairman of the Missouri Republican Party wants the GOP to be more aggressive in promoting its message and more sophisticated in reaching out to voters.

Martin narrowly ousted former chair David Cole on Saturday.

Many speculate it was because of the GOP's poor performance in statewide races, where the party lost five out of the six races.

Martin says those losses were due to one thing: "We found ourselves at a disadvantage because we were vastly outspent by tens of millions of dollars total," he says.

Martin is the Republican nominee challenging current state Attorney General Chris Koster, the Democrat incumbent. The job description, as described by the Associated Press, includes: defending the state’s laws and policies in court, assisting county prosecutors, investigating consumer fraud cases and looking into violations of the state’s open meetings and records laws.

Missouri Republican Ed Martin is getting help in his run for state attorney general from Texas Governor Rick Perry. Martin and Perry campaigned Monday in Columbia.

Martin, a St. Louis lawyer who was chief of staff to former Governor Matt Blunt, is challenging Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster. At Bleu Restaurant Monday, Perry compared Martin’s campaign to an SEC football event.

Mo. AG candidate proposes regulation task force

Missouri Republican attorney general candidate Ed Martin is calling for the creation of a new task force dealing with government regulations.

Martin says the task force would focus on regulations for energy and the environment, health care and small businesses. It would be in the state attorney general's office. He says excessive government regulations hurt businesses and the economy.

On Thursday, Martin was traveling in southwestern Missouri to discuss his proposal during campaign stops in Branson, Neosho and Mount Vernon.

Koster, Martin report fundraising for Mo. AG race

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster reports raising more than a half-million dollars during the past quarter for his re-election campaign.

Candidates filed reports with the Missouri Ethics Commission laying out their fundraising activities from April through the end of June.

Koster, a Democrat, reported that his campaign raised $572,000 during the past three months and had nearly $2.4 million in available cash at the start of July.
