Missouri Military Academy Pilots Digital Textbook Program

  The Missouri Military Academy is moving towards a digital educational platform via the Kindle Paperwhite. Middle school classrooms have been operating with the new technology since December.

Middle School Director Edsel Baker said the pilot program allows teachers to quickly download new class material at any time, keeping the school curriculum up to date and timely.

Secondary books, or required class novels, can also be downloaded at a reduced price when bought from Amazon via the Kindle Paperwhite, keeping costs minimal for students, among other benefits.

Columbia holds 28th annual Veterans Day parade

The City of Columbia held its 28th annual Veterans Day parade and ceremony Sunday.  Events started with a parade down Eighth Street from the columns and ended at the Boone County Courthouse.

Patriotic songs were played by the Missouri Military Academy band and the Boone County Fire Protection District Pipes and Drums during both the parade and the ceremony. The parade also included the local ROTC.

Air Force ROTC Cadet Patrick Stark was the emcee for the event at the courthouse. The featured speaker was retired Air Force Colonel Bill Boston.

A recent agreement between the Missouri Military Academy in Mexico and Norwich College in Vermont has school officials enthusiastic about future collaborations.

The arrangement guarantees Missouri Military Academy students who meet academic and leadership standards admission into Norwich University. The partnership between the two schools went into effect in late May.

Dean of Academics Frank Giuseffi says he looks forward to providing the students with more partnerships like this one to choose from, when choosing their college.

Missouri Military Academy in Mexico has long prided itself in creating young leaders, boasting a one hundred percent college acceptance rate for the past decade. This academic year the school has started a Chinese language program, and is considering an exchange program in China.

Military Academy names new president
