Renovations Considered for Douglass Park

The Columbia Parks and Recreation Commission held its monthly meeting Thursday to discuss a proposed renovation plan at Douglass Park.

Here’s what plan A looks like:

·         20 parking spots along 5th street

·         Outdoor amphitheater

·         New sidewalks that run through the middle of the park

Here’s what plan B looks like:

·         Two handball courts

·         A renovated playground.

UM Board of Curators approves University Hospital renovation

The University of Missouri Board of Curators voted unanimously in favor of renovating the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th floors of the  University Hospital building on Thursday. According to Interim Vice President Thomas Richards, the $19 million plan is necessary because the current state of the private patient rooms are not up to standards with the rest of the hospital.

“These existing patient rooms are highly outdated when compared to the new rooms in the patient tower, the new Orthopedic Institute, and the other renovated portions of the hospital,” said Richards.

Construction and carpet squares: St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church celebrates renovation

This carpet used to be on the floor of the sanctuary. Now, it just might be a decoration in people's homes.

For just $1, congregants at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church could purchase a square of the old orange carpet that used to cover the sanctuary floor.

“People either hated the carpet or loved the carpet,” said Urb Molitor. He’s the head of the building committee for the church’s recent renovation. 

The congregation celebrated the completion of the renovation Sunday with an open house. They had food in the fellowship hall, a bounce house out back and music on the portico. Members mingled in the new narthex, admiring the extra space and new doors and windows.
