The day after the Presidential Election, Missouri’s Secretary of State’s office published a list indicating how many voters came out to the polls. The list gives numbers all the way down to a county level, and statewide, it estimates voter turnout at 65.7%. That statewide figure is calculated based on the number of registered voters and votes cast. John Petrocik is a professor at MU.  He says that method of counting voters doesn’t accurately record the percentage of the total population that votes.

As Columbia voters went to the polls today, many volunteers helped to keep the process moving along.

A crowd of 120 supporters greeted the Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s “Women are Watching” bus tour as it rolled into Columbia Thursday evening. The Action Fund has been holding rallies across the country to energize voters in support of candidates who back Planned Parenthood health centers.

Missouri voters could get a say on several big issues this fall, including measures to replace the state income tax, hike the tobacco tax, raise the minimum wage and restrict payday loans.
